To me, the West has never meant just the American West; it has always included our neighbor to the South. Please check out my friend Ron Mears’ fine site dedicated to Mexico’s largest border city, Ciudad Juarez in the state of Chihuahua. The site includes an article on Chamizal Park, which is also the subject of my article “The Two Chamizals” on the Bootsnall web site (the article will be one of the chapters in my book). It also includes a virtual tour of the park’s archaeological museum, with pictures by Mears and my wife Jill. I am proud to say that the museum’s director was greatly honored when Mears showed her a copy of this tour, and I hope that we were able to help in some small way by increasing local interest in the institution.

I am sorry it has been so long since I last posted; I have been incredibly busy with work and other projects. I haven’t forgotten about the book, however; work continues on it, especially on the Salt River Canyon essay, which will be the last one to be completed (the others are largely finished).
